ABOUT ME
Whether working with individuals, couples, or families,
my approach is guided by both clinical excellence and a deep respect for the human spirit.
In practice, I draw from psychodynamic theory, relational approaches, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and trauma-informed interventions, weaving them together with multicultural, holistic, spiritual, and strength-based tools. My goal is to create a space where clients feel deeply seen, understood, and supported in moving toward meaningful transformation.
Beyond the therapy room, my work reflects a broader commitment to shaping the future of mental health care. I have served in hospital leadership, guided clinical programs addressing complex mental health and medical needs, and mentored early-career clinicians in developing their craft. I am often sought after for my expertise in culturally responsive, trauma-informed care and my ability to bridge evidence-based science with practical, human-centered application.
This blend of clinical depth, academic rigor, and leadership experience allows me to offer clients more than therapy sessions—it creates a partnership grounded in insight, excellence, and the pursuit of lasting change.
I earned a Master’s degree in Women’s & Gender Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where I focused on improving access to health care and reducing health disparities among women, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community.
After working in public health education, I bridged the fields of physical and mental health by pursuing psychology. I continued my training at New York University (NYU) and completed advanced psychodynamic and Horneyan training at the American Institute for Psychoanalysis.
I completed my Doctorate at Johns Hopkins University, where my research and clinical focus centered on trauma, depression, anxiety, and the development of culturally competent, relevant screenings and interventions. This work deepened my understanding of trauma-informed care and the role of neuroplasticity in healing—how the brain can change, adapt, and grow throughout treatment.
With a doctorate from Johns Hopkins University focused on trauma, depression, anxiety, and culturally competent interventions, I bring both clinical depth and innovation to my work.
I integrate psychodynamic, relational, cognitive behavioral, and trauma-informed approaches, while drawing on the science of neuroplasticity—the brain’s remarkable ability to adapt and heal over time.
My approach goes beyond symptom management—I help clients create lasting transformation that reshapes how they experience themselves and their relationships.
Each treatment plan is highly personalized.
I recognize that no two clients are alike, and I design every therapeutic experience to reflect the unique values, culture, and goals of the individual or family. Therapy with me is not about short-term coping—it’s about cultivating resilience, clarity, and profound well-being that endures long after our sessions end.
